LHARG Monthly News – October, 2022

We welcomed new member Bob, KN6CWC. Bob recently received his Technicians license and the club is happy to be his “Elmer” offering help when needed. We participated in the California QSO Party, making 76 contacts with 18 States, 22 Counties and two Provinces. Another fun time on HF was the Route 66 QSO Event. The folks who run this event in Arizona send you QSL cards with a map of the famous Route. If you contact all three and line up their cards, you get a map of the route thru Arizona, we have two out of three. Our Hams & Coffee get together held at KS Café was fun, covering a variety of topics (including Ham radio). We will be getting together again in the future, so consider joining us to rag chew, more to come. We help on programming hand held radios. Regarding the Ham Bands, we have noticed an increase in contacts on both the 10 and 17m Band. Meetings are held at the South Tower every Monday night at 6:30 PM. Our club conducts a weekly radio network at 7:00 PM every Monday on the W6LHR Repeater at 147.030 MHz, 167.9 PL. If you are looking for a way to engage in the community and have an interest in Amateur Radio, please check out the LHARG.
