The Group participated in the North America QSO Party and made over 75 RTTY contacts. We also connected with over 20 International countries such as Barbados, Ecuador, Bonaire and Portugal in the ARRL DX Contest using SSB Phone. Dan, KN6DRN led the Group in a hands-on demo of FT8. FT8 utilizes your radio and a computer program to send specific information from one station to another. Members were able to sit at the radio and computer and actually made several contacts, which were confirmed. At another meeting, John, NQ6Q introduced the Group to another Digital mode called PSK31. PSK31 also utilizes a computer and your radio but adds the ability to “talk” to another station using your keyboard. We hope to do a hands-on demo at a future date. It’s fun as well. Our Hams & Coffee get togethers, held at KS Café are lively, covering a variety of topics (including Ham radio). We will be getting together again in the future, so consider joining us to rag chew, more to come. We help with programming handheld radios. Meetings are held at the South Tower every Monday night at 6:30 PM. Our club conducts a weekly radio network at 7:00 PM every Monday on the W6LHR Repeater at 147.030 MHz, 167.9 PL.
