LHARG Monthly News – December, 2025

Congratulations to Richard, KO6JUF on passing the General level exam. Richard studied hard and we are all impressed with his achievement. Now it’s time to decide on a new radio, always a fun task. We welcomed new members John, W6HRZ and Lyle, who we hope will study for his license. What a wonderful Hams & Coffee we had. Part celebration of Richard’s achievement and part Holiday Party.

Dan, KN6DRN shared two videos at one of our weekly meetings. One demonstrated various World War 2 radio equipment. The typical field radio weighed in at over 30 pounds! Two way headphones were utilized as well as telegraph keys. We also viewed the early use of mobile car phones and learned how signals were sent via ground phone stations to antennas placed along highways. Car trunks accommodated very heavy equipment but worked very well for the times.

Meetings are held at the South Tower every Monday night at 6:30 PM. Our club conducts a weekly radio network at 7:00 PM every Monday on the W6LHR Repeater at 147.030 MHz, 167.9 PL. If you are looking for a way to engage in the community and have an interest in amateur radio, please check out the LHARG. We can help with programming handheld radios.
